Giddy Up Cowboy, we’re going for a ride

I’m the type of person who believes “there is always a light at the end of the tunnel,” and the “glass is always half full,” not empty. In these times, it would be easy to shift my thinking.

Hardship CS Lewis quote

We are indeed living through an event/time most of us have never experienced or could imagine would ever happen.  We have been through many earth-shattering events over the last several decades, both natural and human-made, and have always come through hopefully better than before they happened. I want to think we will come out of this stronger than before.

The thought of being socially or physically isolated and being restricted from what I have always done had me in a quandary those first few days of “stay in place.” Worrying about loved ones, co-workers, associates, clients, first responders, and the healthcare professionals in “harms way” dealing with or fighting this horrific virus had me very upset and confused on how all this became so bad so fast.

Within the first two weeks, I needed to pivot my “normal” routine. I was changing my workouts from the gym to working out at home, washing my hands more than ever, purposefully adding a little “sunshine” into each conversation with my kids, grandkids, and clients. It’s been my “Cowboy-Up” mantra that has helped me shift my thinking.

Isolation can undoubtedly be lonely and challenging to get one’s self mentally down. It’s so necessary to engage with others (at a distance, of course) to share the things you are doing to keep your sanity.

Give to others and be of service when you can. Stay positive, stay away from all the sensation media can bring by playing music, laughing, and understanding “you don’t know what you don’t know.” We are all learning how to get through this virus and come out the other end stronger than before.
