Generally speaking, we live in a fast-paced and rat race-driven world. We work, we play, we run, and in the end, we are just plain tired.
Sometimes we do need to stop, “smell the roses,” and take a step back from the daily grind of trying to get everything accomplished. We need to appreciate the rewards of all that running around to be more grateful and giving for what we have.
Yesterday, I had the privilege of experiencing one of those “Gratitude Moments.” I attended a Graduation Ceremony with “Canine Partners for Life” (CPL), a non-profit organization. For 30 years, CPL has been dedicated to helping and providing service and companion dogs for those in need.
My wife spearheaded this campaign, through her work, to raise funds needed for one of her coworker’s daughter, Cheyenne. Cheyenne, could not have a full quality life without the benefit of a service dog and today, she has Jedi.
Through the support of many people giving generously, they raised enough money for Jedi, his training, and accommodations for the training, which would not have occurred otherwise.
Humbling was not only the word but the warmth and satisfaction I felt by knowing that small effort changed the life of an individual. Cheyenne can now have a full life to make her dreams come true.
“At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished. It’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.” Denzel Washington
